What is library teen services and why is it important? 

Hello! My name is Linsey Milillo. I am currently a Teen Services Librarian and I plan to be one for the foreseeable future.  Working with teens is an exciting job that calls for organization and creativity. Those wishing to work in this field need to be energetic, team oriented and have a passion for public service.  It is essential that a Teen Services Librarian be knowledgeable about the recreational and educational needs of teens.  Staying keyed in to popular culture trends and other issues is essential as is staying on task with technological advancements.

The important thing to remember is to stay current and know what resources are out there to achieve these goals. The work is never really done. Professional development requires constant diligence whether it be in research, reading related blogs, maintaining memberships or just reading and interacting with teens.  As such, I have compiled a Teen Services Toolkit that provides links to various blogs, articles, websites and more to keep myself and other professionals working in Teen Services connected to beneficial resources.
