REVIEW: Wedding Cake Murder by Joanne Fluke

Wedding Cake Murder is the final? entry to Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen mystery series.  Hannah is finally getting married! While she'd hoped for a low key affair, her family has other plans.  In typical Hannah fashion, she relents especially since she has to plan to be a contestant on a nationally televised baking competition.  When the head judge, world renowned Alain Duquesne, a celebrity chef with a nasty reputation, ends up stabbed to death in on the show's kitchen set, Hannah once again finds herself embroiled in this whodunit mystery.

This book had a lot more content than a few of the previous series entries. If this is the end, then Hannah has a fitting fairy tale wedding with the love of her life.  Fans of the series won't be disappointed by the mystery elements, characterization or delicious recipes. I wouldn't mind at least one more book to wrap up secondary character stories and to see how Hannah adjusts to married life.

REVIEW: Double Fudge Brownie Murder by Joanne Fluke

Double Fudge Brownie Murder is the 18th book in Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen series. The book begins with a wedding--Hannah and her sisters travel to Las Vegas to watch their mother wed long time beau, Doc. A surprise guest is Doc's best man, Hannah's college sweetie, Ross. Their romance is rekindled and when the possibility of Ross moving back to Laken Eden permanently becomes a reality, Hannah's love life gets spicey. 

Leave it to Hannah to get wrapped up in another murder investigation in the least likely place.  Her anxieties are high as her trial stemming from events in Blackberry Cobbler Murder nears.  While at the courthouse, someone murders the judge with his own gavel and Hannah finds the body. With her own case dismissed, Hannah is determined to figure out who the killer is. Of course she has to bake some tasty treats too!

Overall, this was a good entry to the series. There was certainly more to the story with the wedding, introduction of Ross and the courthouse murder.  I'm pretty intrigued about the next book since Hannah has decided to accept one of her proposals and a wedding is imminent. This book once again features a nice selection of delicious sounding recipes.

REVIEW: Blackberry Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke

Blackberry Pie Murder is the 17th installment in Fluke's Hannah Swensen series.  Hannah and her sisters are busy trying unsuccessfully to plan their mother's wedding.  Luckily, it's been months since shes or another family member has discovered a dead body in small town Lake Eden.  But when a horrific storm causes Hannah to strike a man and kill him, all bets are off. Arrested for his death, Team Swensen goes on the offensive, determined to discover his identity and and help Hannah. There were some good twists, laughs and plenty of yummy recipes.

I'm behind on the series and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up. This was a solid addition to the series since the last few weren't as great.  Of course this cozy mystery is a bit predictable and rather unbelievable but that is part of the charm.  It was a fast read and the characters are still very likeable.

One drawback is that the inclusion of recipes still makes me incredibly hungry!
